Open Question: Why do other countries try and claim British bands so much?

I see people from other countries do it a LOT, for example, The Bee Gees, they are all British, born and raised in UK and have British accents, another example AC/DC, most of the members are Scottish and English, there is only one Australian drummer but they are called an Australian band. Who really gives a sh*t if they lived in Australia and form their bands there though? They are still British. Also,The Killers, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Pretenders, etc... are American but formed their bands in UK, they aren't British bands though and we don't claim them as British bands. Green day and The Killers CLEARLY try and sound British and got their influences from British invasion bands such Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, Pet Shop Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc... The Beatles who are also British basically invented Pop music and so many artists, even today, are influenced by them, it's like us accusing American pop stars of trying to be British and sound English because they got their influences from British bands and singers. It's so annoying when Americans say "Yeah they may be English but they are probably influenced by American bands and try and copy them, so I personally see them as American". I know we already have enough good British bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Who, Oasis, Radiohead, Muse, Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, Kasabian, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Florence and the Machine, Kate Bush, Pet Shop Boys, Whitesnake, The Kinks, Deep Purple, The Cure, Sade, The Animals, The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Police, etc... but other countries need to stop claiming them. You would get annoyed if we kept calling Madonna and Kylie Minogue English just because they have both lived here. And people always accuse our countries bands of trying to be American or Australian and try and claim them! WHY?! It's not our faults we have the best bands and singers, it must be something in the water or it must be the British accents that makes the music sound good?... Read More »
